Clipkiln — Terms of Service
Version: 1.2 · Last updated: 2026-09-23
Effective: 23 September 2026 for accounts created on or after that date, and 24 October 2026 for accounts created before it. Until then, those accounts are covered by version 1.1. Anything in this version that gives you more than version 1.1 did — such as the 14-day refund and the complaints process — applies to everyone from 23 September 2026.
1. Who we are
Clipkiln is operated by Charles Benjamin Towe, a sole trader trading as "Clipkiln".
Address for service of documents: Crowle Court Farmhouse, Bredicot Lane, Crowle, Worcestershire, WR7 4AY, United Kingdom Contact: support@clipkiln.com, or the Contact form inside the app.
2. What Clipkiln does
Clipkiln takes long videos you upload, or fetch from a link you give it, and produces short vertical clips with subtitles. It transcribes the speech, uses AI to find the strongest moments, and renders them. It also turns a script you write into a narrated video with a synthetic voice, joins clips into compilations and, on the Pro plan, can make and post videos on a schedule.
If you choose to, you can connect your TikTok, YouTube or Google Drive account and post or upload finished clips to it from inside Clipkiln. That is optional, you can disconnect at any time, and section 7a explains what it means.
3. Your account
You must be 18 or over and give an accurate email address. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done through your account.
4. Payment, cancellation and refunds
Who sells your subscription. A subscription bought after this version of these terms took effect is sold by Stripe, through its Managed Payments service, as merchant of record: Stripe takes the payment, handles VAT and sales tax, and issues your receipts and invoices, and your card statement shows it as Link (LINK.COM\*). A subscription bought before then is sold by us, with Stripe processing the payment for us. Either way, your contract for the Clipkiln service itself — including your legal rights about how it performs — is with us under these terms. Stripe keeps your card details; we never see them.
- Plans and what each one includes per month. A "minute" is a minute of video processed, measured by the length of the video you give us or of the narration we generate for you (some tools are charged at a reduced rate, which the app shows before you start):
| Plan | Price | Minutes per month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | 30 |
| Base | £4.99/month | 400 |
| Pro | £14.99/month | 1,200 |
Prices include any VAT or tax due, except that if you pay in US or Canadian dollars, sales tax is added at checkout, where you see the full amount before you pay. Checkout may show the price converted into your local currency. Unused minutes do not carry over to the next month. Clips made on the Free plan carry a Clipkiln watermark, and each plan has an upload size limit shown in the app.
- Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Cancel any time in the app (Manage plan); you keep access until the end of the paid period, and no further payment is taken.
- Your 14-day right to cancel. You may cancel within 14 days of the day your contract starts — the day you start a trial or first subscribe, and again if you subscribe afresh after a previous subscription has ended. A monthly renewal or a change of plan does not start a new period. To cancel, email support@clipkiln.com saying that you are cancelling (you may use the form below, but you do not have to). We will make sure you receive a full refund within 14 days of your notice, to the payment method you used.
Model cancellation form — To Charles Benjamin Towe trading as Clipkiln, Crowle Court Farmhouse, Bredicot Lane, Crowle, Worcestershire, WR7 4AY, support@clipkiln.com: I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the Clipkiln [Base/Pro] subscription. Ordered on: \_\_\_ · Name: \_\_\_ · Account email: \_\_\_ · Date: \_\_\_
- Otherwise, payments already made are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
- Complaints. Email support@clipkiln.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and reply in full within 14 days.
4a. The free trial
The trial is on the Pro plan only, it lasts 7 days, and you get one per email address — ever.
- What you get. Seven days on Pro without being charged, with 350 minutes to use during the trial. That is less than Pro's usual 1,200 minutes a month: the trial is there to let you try the product, not to provide a free month of it.
- A payment method is required to start it, and the trial converts automatically. When the seven days end you are charged £14.99 for your first month of Pro and monthly after that, unless you cancel first.
- Cancelling during the trial costs you nothing. Cancel at any time before the trial end date and time shown in Manage plan and in the reminder we email you before it ends, and no payment is taken. You keep the trial until it was due to end.
- You may choose not to take the trial. When you subscribe to Pro you can pay straight away instead and get the full 1,200 minutes immediately. Declining it does not use it up.
- You may end the trial early. If you want Pro's full allowance before the seven days are up, you can end the trial and be charged the £14.99 there and then.
- Base has no trial. If you move from a Pro trial to Base, the trial ends that day and your first Base payment is taken straight away. If you move from Base up to Pro and have not used your trial, you get the seven days and are charged for Pro at the end of them.
- One per email address, ever. The trial is used up the first time you start it, and it does not come back. Changing plan, cancelling, subscribing again, or deleting your account and registering the same email address again do not give you another one.
- How we enforce that after you close your account. So that deleting an account is not a way to obtain a second trial, we keep three things when an account is closed: a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address (not the address itself), whether that account had used its trial, and whether it had ever paid. We cannot recover your email address from the hash, and it is used for nothing but recognising a returning account. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in preventing repeated use of a one-per-customer offer. The only other thing kept is the accounting record of money taken or refunded — the amount, the date and the payment reference, with the link to your account removed — which tax law requires us to hold for six years. The Privacy Policy sets both out in full.
5. YOUR CONTENT — read this section
You keep ownership of everything you upload and everything Clipkiln produces from it, subject to other people's rights in stock footage, music and platform content — and note that material generated by AI may not be protected by copyright at all. We claim no ownership of your videos or your clips.
The permission you give us. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, transcribe, edit and render your content; to send transcripts and scripts to the providers named in the Privacy Policy; and to post it where you tell us to. It is only for providing the service to you, we may pass it on only to those providers for that purpose, and it ends when the content is deleted.
You are responsible for what you upload. "Upload" includes a link you ask us to fetch: when you give Clipkiln a link, you are instructing us to fetch that video on your behalf, and fetching it gives you no rights to it. By uploading, you confirm that:
- You own the video, or have permission from whoever does, to use it this way; and
- Everyone identifiable in it has consented where the law requires it; and
- It does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights; and
- It is lawful.
We do not check whether you have the rights to your uploads, and we cannot. Clipkiln is a tool. Pointing it at someone else's video does not give you rights to that video, and does not transfer that problem to us.
If you break the promises in this section, you are responsible for the losses that we or others reasonably and foreseeably suffer as a result — but not for losses caused by our own breach or negligence. If you use Clipkiln for business, you will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from content you upload or instruct us to publish.
If a rightsholder complains, we will act on a valid notice — including removing content and, for repeat infringement, closing your account.
Report infringement to: support@clipkiln.com with the work concerned, the material complained of (the clip or link), your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and a statement that you are authorised to act. We aim to act on a complete notice within 5 working days and will tell the account holder, who may reply to support@clipkiln.com with a counter-statement.
6. What you may not do
- Upload content you have no right to use.
- Upload unlawful, abusive, or sexual-abuse material.
- Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Resell or redistribute the service itself.
- Use it to impersonate anyone or to deceive — including making a real person appear to say something they did not, or misleading people about elections or public health.
- Use its AI features (scripts, hooks, captions, translations, synthetic voice) in breach of the usage policies of OpenRouter or of the AI model that serves your request, or try to get round the AI's safety measures.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches this, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
7. Stock footage, music and voices
Clipkiln can composite stock footage from Pexels into your clips and add background music. Where footage comes from Pexels, we credit Pexels in the app.
- Stock footage arrives inside a finished, composited clip. You may not extract it and redistribute it on its own — that would breach the Pexels licence.
- Stock footage may show real people. You may not use it in a way that suggests those people, or any brand shown, endorse your product, message or narration, or that portrays them offensively, as involved in crime, as ill, or in a sexual context.
- Music or sounds you upload are your responsibility, exactly like your video.
- The synthetic voices use Kokoro (Apache-2.0). You own the narration audio produced; you are responsible for what you make it say.
- AI-written text can be wrong. Hooks, captions, translations, subtitles and scripts are produced by AI and may be inaccurate or unsuitable. Check them before you publish.
7a. Connecting TikTok, YouTube or Google Drive
Posting from inside Clipkiln is optional, and nothing is connected unless you connect it.
- You are posting to your own account, under that platform's rules. Their terms and community guidelines govern what you post; we cannot appeal, restore or unpublish anything on your behalf once it has left us.
- We hold an access token for each account you connect, so that we can post on your instruction. You can disconnect at any time in the app, which stops us using it. See the Privacy Policy for what is stored and for how long.
- A post cannot be recalled by us. Deleting a clip in Clipkiln does not remove something already published — delete it on the platform.
- TikTok posts may arrive as drafts rather than going live, depending on the access that platform has granted us. The app tells you which will happen before you post.
- YouTube. Clipkiln uses the YouTube API Services. By connecting a YouTube account or using Clipkiln to post to YouTube you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
- Scheduled posts and automation. When you schedule a post or switch on automation, you instruct us to create and post content to your connected accounts at the times you set, without asking you each time. What it posts is written by AI (see section 7), so review your settings and switch automation off if you do not want to be responsible for what it posts. We are responsible if something is posted because of a fault on our side — for example, posting after you switched automation off.
8. Privacy in one line
Your source videos are processed on our own server and are never sent to an AI provider; a finished clip leaves only when you send it somewhere. The transcript — the text of what is said — is sent to our AI provider so it can find the good moments. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
9. How long we keep your files
- Uploads: an upload is deleted 5 days after it was last processed or edited. That removes the source video, every clip rendered from it, and the upload's entry in Recent Uploads. It is automatic and it is not recoverable — re-upload the video if you need it again.
- Rendered clips you have not saved: deleted with their upload, at 5 days.
- Story videos you have not saved: deleted 5 days after they were made. The script and every setting are kept, so you can re-render the video at any time.
- Stock footage we fetched for a job: deleted after 1 day.
- Videos sent to the transcriber or the subtitler (the Other tab): deleted 4 hours after you send them. The subtitled video is not stored either, and there is no way to save it to your account — download it or send it to Google Drive first.
- Files you attach to a support message: deleted as soon as the message is sent. They are not forwarded to us.
- Clips you save to your account: kept until you delete them or close your account.
10. Service availability
We supply Clipkiln with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that the AI will pick the clips you would have picked, or that any clip will perform well on any platform. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
We may change the service to reflect changes in the law, security needs, our suppliers or how the product works. If a change makes the service materially worse for you, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then and receive a refund of any period you have paid for in advance and not used.
11. Our liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your non-excludable rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
If you are a consumer: we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses — lost profits, revenue or opportunities — because the service is for your personal use. If we lose content we promised to keep, through our fault, we will use reasonable efforts to restore it.
If you use Clipkiln for business: we are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost opportunities, lost data or indirect loss, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the subscription fees paid for your account in that period.
Keep your own copies of anything you care about. See section 9 — we delete unsaved files on a schedule and we are not a backup service.
12. Ending it
You may close your account at any time by emailing support@clipkiln.com. Once we have confirmed the request comes from you, we delete your account and content as described in the Privacy Policy, promptly and in any case within one month. Some records outlive it, as the Privacy Policy sets out: the small record in section 4a that stops closing an account being a way to obtain a second free trial, the record of payments we must keep for tax purposes (with the link to you removed), and copies that expire on their own schedule — encrypted backups (within 30 days), server logs, and our support inbox.
We may close your account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or otherwise on at least 30 days' notice. If we close it for any reason other than your breach, we will refund any period you have paid for in advance and not used.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the law, our suppliers or the service. We will email you at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you do not accept it, you may cancel before then and receive a refund of any period you have paid for in advance and not used. The version in force when something happened is the one that applies to it; each version carries its number and date at the top.
14. Law
These terms are governed by England & Wales law. As a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there. If you use Clipkiln for business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
15. General
- Transfer. We may transfer this agreement to a business that takes over Clipkiln, and will tell you; this will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer it without our consent.
- Third parties. No one else has rights under these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unlawful, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we delay enforcing these terms, we can still enforce them later.
- Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We will tell you and minimise the effect, and you may cancel if it continues for more than 30 days.
- Notices. We send notices to your account email address; you send them to support@clipkiln.com or the address in section 1.
